A good general reference

Laurie Lundy-Ekman's book was the textbook in my recent upper division neuroanatomy course and offered a good base reference for the course. The author mentions neurological problems relevant to the brain area discussed in that chapter, which is helpful for a better understanding. Its a great reference book to keep on the shelf and its smaller size makes it more handy than other larger neurology books.

This book is written for OT/PT and it has alot in information crammed in it. It doesn't dumb down the information and I'm a student so sometimes I need to look up things to understand what the text is talking about but it's definitely aimed at professionals.

Page-turner sequel! Loved It!
By history repeats
I absolutely loved Eden and Hunted did not disappoint. This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Ms. Wise writes with the kind of plot suspense and atmospheric danger that you are never sure if she is going to kill off a major character, including the hero or the heroine. There is so much fast-paced action in the second half of the book that I felt a little worn out when I finished it.

The natives take a major role in this sequel, and it takes a talented writer to imbue semi-verbal creatures with so much characterization that they feel like friends and enemies. Plus, we finally learn a lot more about Fly's fascinating backstory. As in Eden, Ms. Wise has very rich descriptions of the landscape, making it a character in this book, too. Fly and Jenny are basically explorers and settlers, and their new world plays an appropriately sinister and threatening role.

This book was great from beginning to end, and a perfect conclusion to the Eden story. I liked Fly and Jenny so much that I will miss them. They were great characters who solidified their roles as a couple in the first half and then were tested and challenged on so many fronts as individuals in the second half that Ms. Wise left you prepared for their possible demise. It was a breathtaking adventure!

A great sequel.

LOVE this story. This book is the long awaited sequel to her book Eden, and it is wonderful. This book can be read alone I think, but it would be so much more satisfying to read the other first. This book picks up and we read about the native life on the planet and their interaction with them.
We also learn about Fly's background and more about his species.
It is a great story.

Great conculsion to a wonderful story

A great ending to a pair of book with really great writing and really unique characters. I am kind of sad to see this series end. Their are so may different avenues that the author could probably take but it wouldn't be the same. I congratulate the author om some really fun adventures in this book. Fun for me not so much for the characters. Enjoy/

The First English Translation of the Wartime Diaries of the Eldest Daughter of Nicholas II, the Last Tsar of Russia, with Additional Documents of the PeriodIn August 1914, Russia entered World War I, and with it, the imperial family of Tsar Nicholas II was thrust into a conflict they would not survive. His eldest child, Olga Nikolaevna, great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, had begun a diary in 1905 when she was ten years old and kept writing her thoughts and impressions of day-to-day life as a grand duchess until abruptly ending her entries when her father abdicated his throne in March 1917. Held at the State Archives of the Russian Federation in Moscow, Olga’s diaries during the wartime period have never been translated into English until this volume. At the outset of the war, Olga and her sister Tatiana worked as nurses in a military hospital along with their mother, Tsarina Alexandra. Olga’s younger sisters, Maria and Anastasia, visited the infirmaries to help raise the morale of the wounded and sick soldiers. The strain was indeed great, as Olga records her impressions of tending to the officers who had been injured and maimed in the fighting on the Russian front. Concerns about her sickly brother, Aleksei, abound, as well those for her father, who is seen attempting to manage the ongoing war. Gregori Rasputin appears in entries, too, in an affectionate manner as one would expect of a family friend. HELEN AZAR is a librarian at the Free Library of Philadelphia who helps run a popular local history program. Trained as a scientist, she has worked at the Rare Book Foundation at the Museum of Tsarskoe Selo, Russia, and has published several articles on the identification of the remains of the last Tsar and his family.

Great for Teachers working on the subject share with your students

The book is the first of its kind, because it consists of the authentic diary entries of one of the daughters of the last Russian Tsar. In addition, it is not an indiscriminate repetitive collection of diary entries, but a collection of what looks like carefully chosen representative ones. Some of the entries have been published in Russian (never in English as far as I know), but many of the diary entries I am seeing here for the first time… As a bonus, the book does not only contain Olga’s diaries, but also some other valuable primary sources, including never before published (in English) diary entries of Tsar Nicholas II himself, as well as the memoirs of Alexander Kerensky, and the events seen from their points of view. These, and others, make this book an important resource for WWI and Russian revolution scholars and history buffs too. If you are looking for primary source material of this period, this book is definitely for you.

Ms. Azar also included in her book a selection of never before translated letters of Olga's as well as a wealth of other primary sources, again never available in English before.

Strengthen Your Prayer Life!

Author Cheri Fuller begins her book Dangerous Prayer with a question: "Have you ever prayed a dangerous prayer?' She then explains that while this kind of prayer is nothing new, it needs to be rooted in the Bible and the person praying it has to turn his efforts over to God and be willing to do His will.

Fuller devotes twenty-one chapters to illustrate what can happen when God's people pray dangerous prayers. She reminds us of Hannah, who was childless until she promised in her dangerous prayer that if God would give her a child, she would willingly give that child back to Him. Hannah obeyed her prayer and gave her small son Samuel back to serve God.

Another example is the Samaritan woman at the well who asked Jesus for the Living Water that would guarantee that she would never be thirsty again. This was a very dangerous prayer because a Samaritan woman asking for help from a Jewish man was certainly taboo in that culture.

Both of these illustrations are well-known Bible stories but in this book we meet, among others, a teenager who prayed a very dangerous prayer and a seventy-six year old woman who uttered the most dangerous prayer of all: "Yes, Lord". Cheri Fuller also relates some of her own experiences praying dangerous prayers so chapter after chapter, we are shown examples of how a willing, submissive heart and a dangerous prayer can strengthen our walk with God and enable us to grow as Christians.

Bible scriptures in each chapter enhance the stories and the final chapter offers questions that will help each reader to begin to pray their own dangerous prayers and start to do what God has called them to do. I can see Dangerous Prayers being used by individuals in their personal devotions and also in Bible Study groups. Cheri Fuller has given readers a valuable resource and I highly recommend it.

Cheri Fuller shares with her readers the power of praying dangerously in Dangerous Prayer: Discovering Your Amazing Story Inside the Eternal Story of God.
Cheri Fuller does a remarkable job of sharing stories of how people who prayed “dangerous” prayers to God found themselves living in new countries, in new cities and towns, in new homes among loved ones or strangers. When God listens and responds to their prayers, their lives and/or others’ lives are transformed.
When I first picked up Cheri Fuller’s latest book on prayer, I paused because the title, Dangerous Prayer, printed in a dark red capital letters, did not bring thoughts of safety and comfort but ones of warning and change. I thought, “What have I gotten myself into now?” Then, my eyes focused on the second part of Fuller’s book title, Discovering Your Amazing Story Inside the Eternal Story of God, I decided that contents might be interesting and less intimidating.
As I read I became aware of the elements of a dangerous prayer, a prayer made with all of one’s being out of passion, desperation, or hope for God to move in that person’s life or another’s life and with a willingness to say “yes” to follow in the direction God leads. I discovered that I have on various occasions in my life prayed and lived out of various dangerous prayers. (What are examples of people’s life-changing prayers? Hint: Read the book to find out.)
Also, I realized that my time spent within the pages within the stories, was well spent. Whether I read a personal account from Fuller, Biblical story, or other true life accounts, I experienced God’s powerful presence and movement in response to their heartfelt prayers. God presented as the main character every time, along with supporting storyteller. Spoiler alert: one of my favorite quotes is on page 222:
One important thing I learned from my elderly friend is that although the project or mission God calls us to may be different from hers, the same God has a plan to use each of us for His great purposes – no matter our age or what stage of life.
I felt encouraged to see that in God’s eyes we matter so much more than our age if we are willing to follow and serve.
Fuller concluded each story with the very words prayed by each storyteller. She briefly showed how the outcome of the prayer revealed God’s promises carried out then and still being carried out today.

Very short, easy read anecdotes that are an inspiration.

This is a great book full of different stories to explain how great and how scary prayer can be! Dangerous prayer is letting God know that you're ready to do as he wants and giving your life over but the dangerous part is asking.

It's like that old adage be careful what you wish for. In the stories there were so many great things that happened because people were willing to ask how they could be used to help others.

Out of the stories here, the one that resonated with me the most was the girl that had a really hard time after she became a teen. Her parents had a hard time as well trying to understand her, as all parents do during that time. They almost lost her when she tried to commit suicide. Fortunately they wanted to help her but they also knew that there were some things that they couldn't do without God.

There are many stories like this one, that really delve into life and how hard it can be but how great it is to pray and surrender yourself.

Very short, easy read that is an inspiration.

The only part of the book I read was Immensee, but it was enough - what a beautiful story. Nothing that followed could possibly have compared. The characters are crafted so wonderfully that it's impossible to not feel like you know them. Reinhard is particularly captivating, with his kindness, his wandering soul, and his enduring love for a girl he never manages to get. Watching him slowly be replaced in Elisabeth's life is painful - as painful as it is to observe his youth and vigor slowly slipping away. Geez - I read this stupid thing today, and even now it haunts me.

A classical German love story by a master of the novella form, the 'long short story'.
All good love stories are sad. This is one of the best and saddest.
Written in 1850 by a man who was appropriately called Storm, it was his breakthrough to literary fame and fortune.
My biggest surprise at this reading encounter is, that I realize: I never read it before. That's stupid. It's like not knowing a Beethoven string quartet.
The story in a nutshell: an old man remembers his childhood infatuation with a girl, and from there we move in stages to the end of their contact: she has married another man, because her mother wanted it that way. The story may be mid 19th century, but it is as contemporary as they come.
Storm was a poet and a writer of novellas. He didn't belong to 'romantic' literature, but is classified as 'poetical realist'.

Quantataive Trading Of the Nifty

While like so many other trading books this one covers the basics of chart types, entries and exits, and basic market structure that is only the beginning. Kora Reddy's book is different from so many other trading books because it actually shows the back tested performance of trading different quantitative price patterns over the past decade in the Indian Nifty with their performance statistics for winning percentage and profit factors. The author also explains the risk of ruin, draw down and the basics of money management while trading.Kora also shares 12 trading rules that can help new traders begin work on their own trading plan to but it all together. I really have enjoyed using Kora Reddy's Past Stat website and all his quant work. I am a big fan of all his work including this book.

A rare book at least in the Indian Context since all others have till date copy pasted content from their western counter parts with indian examples with no credibility. This book is different, Kora reddy has skin in the game, he actually traded this. This book is different as this has detailed back test of all the patterns.

Kora reddy is an honest man, he has also published a walk forward test which was negative. Clearly he has nothing to sell, he is telling facts as is. Which btw is a rare rare trait.

One of the best books written

While there are many books available on trading with various subjects like technical analysis, eliiott wave theory and so on, this is the book that gets down to the business of actually showing you the results quantitatively. Not some random head and shoulder pattern or an A-B-C wave, this one uses prices alone. I firmly believe prices alone can predict future prices. Rest all is noise, most of the indicators used on street like MACD,RSI cannot really be used for making trading strategies.

The best part about this book is not only does the author give you the results on a platter but it also tickles your brain to do a what if analysis. The chapter on judging your trading system is also very well written. That is all there is to trading. More you complicate, lesser is the effectiveness.

Concepts like day of the week have been used again and again to prove that some days are better than others. Although I believe these things can change over a course of time but what stops you from changing. So my mantra after reading this book for all traders just starting out is stop drawing random lines, just get dirty and put it down in a spreadsheet.

Not the average bear

As with most of the independently written books, some of the grammar in this book needs work. All in all, it's not a bad story, though be warned that this is not your general, run of the mill erotica tale. I would switch editors before the next installment in the series though.
