Great ideas

What a fact filled and easy to understand book! This is a perfect book for all Christians to read. It does not matter if you are a new Christian or a seasoned one you will learn what the Bible has to say about success and how to apply those principles to your life.

I gave this book 5/5 stars. I liked the format of the book. The chapter titles really grab your attention. One title says the world's view is to not mess up while the Bible's view is to not waste a mistake. The comparisons really help you see how different the worlds view is from the Bible's view. The examples used from the Bible were perfectly placed. I liked at the end of the book where the author lists the secrets and ways to apply them to your life. This is a great book and I recommend it to anyone who want to learn about what true success should mean to a Christian.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

This book is well-researched and written in a factual, impactful style that will cause the content to stick with you for a long time to come.

We work with a lot of ministers who outright reject "the gospel of success" as being contrary to God's plan.

God does not plan on us to go through the motions and ultimately fail.

God expects us to put our faith to the test each day, as it certainly will be, and WIN.

John Haggai nails this subject brilliantly, and methodically connects the dots between our struggles and our eventual success.

Practical, principle-based, bible-based connections that will give the reader hope, move him or her on to action... with the full expectation to become the success God created them to be.

A Book That WILL Change Your Life......if you let it ~

I have read this book twice and referred back to it more times than I can count. I used it as a daily devotion and it inspired and provided motivation for me every day. Because of this book, I now have a "prayer book" and have written my daily prayers in it and special requests from friends and family. My prayer book makes it easy to devote time every day to our Lord. Dr. Haggai has a cheerful, yet educational delivery and I'm sure you will learn and be encouraged by reading this book.

Wonder for any piano music lover

There are several reasons I love this book. For one, the songs are very familiar and are pleasing to play. These are instumental works so you get to play it the way it is performed, instead or incorporating the melody into the right-hand piano parts. The chord progressions are very interesting (flat 9th chords, flat 5th, etc.) especially the way they are voiced. You can see an example at the sheet music plus web site. There is another version of this book with parts that are easier to play. I have only seen one sample page from that book (Linus and Lucy) and in the other book it is played in C major and doesn't have the left-hand rhythmic anticipations (first note begins an eight note early) while this book has the song in E-flat, which is a little harder to play but sounds richer. I have a QRS player piano roll of Linus and Lucy and I noticed that it matches the Christas CD better. The song on the CD goes through the main part of the song three times with two swinging (hard to play) refrains. The two refrains are a little different, with the second one being more dissonant than the first. The book documents only the second. The bass line for the refrains are simple walking quarter notes while the piano roll has a rag-time style alternating eight note bass notes and chords. This is fine by me because this is plenty hard to play as it is (triplets over quarter notes, etc.).

At any rate, check out the sample at Sheet Music Plus to see if the difficulty matches you ability. If so, this is a great purchase.

A faithful transcription

I got this book as a present one year and was absolutely amazed. I've always loved the Charlie Brown Christmas Special and came to appreciate the music more and more as I grew up. Reading through the book, I discovered that the authors had done a painstaking job of transcribing Vince Garauldi's performance nearly note-for-note. When you first start playing "The Christmas Song" for example, you hear those flat-9 chords Vince loved to play and think to yourself, "Yeah, that's the real deal." Even the improvised solos are transcribed wonderfully.

This is NOT a book for the faint of heart. If you are unfamiliar with playing jazz piano, you may quickly get overwhelmed. However, what better way to learn some advanced chord voicings than to play it exactly the way the arranger did? The songs are beautiful and incredibly fun to play, but without at least an intermediate piano skill level, you may get frustrated.

If you are looking for a Piano Solo book with arrangments by Vince Guaraldi for Charlie Brown Christmas music, This Is It! All of the songs from the CD "A Charlie Brown Christmas" appear in this book. Do Not be fooled by the word "arrangment", if you happen to be looking for the original music. All of this music sounds almost exactly like the CD (and movie for that matter) even to the point of being written in the same key (F Major, G Major, Ab Major sometimes). Excellent Buy!

I wanted to write a book that would give people the knowledge to build ,ANY standard transmission. When I looked out other books pertaining to this subject I noticed that some of the techniques had many faults and some were just plain dangerous.
Transmissions are a daily job for me. They have been since 1981. If your building a transmission and your reputation depends on it, you want to use proper techniques combined with quality parts that will inevitably make both you and your customer happy. I spent a great deal of road time, taking pictures and interviewing people so the reader could see the inside of a Nascar transmission for example as well as build popular 4 and 5 speed transmissions.

About the Author
Mark L. Savickas, PhD, is chair emeritus and professor in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He also serves as an adjunct professor of counselor education at Kent State University, where he has taught career counseling to more than 5,000 students since 1973. He serves as president of the Counseling Psychology Division of the International Association of Applied Psychology (2010-2014).

For his work in career counseling, he has received the John L. Holland Award for Outstanding Achievement in Personality and Career Research from the Counseling Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association (1994), the Eminent Career Award from the National Career Development Association (1996), the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Society for Vocational Psychology (2006), and honorary doctorates from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) and the University of Pretoria (South Africa).

Brian Hennessey has been in the commercial real estate industry for 30 years as: a commercial broker; a Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Dispositions and ran his own real estate syndication/asset management company. The Due Diligence Process Plan Handbook for Commercial Real Estate Investments was written originally as a personal reference tool/checklist because of the many facets and volume of information that is needed to be remembered for each transaction. Since each transaction is unique, there are many lessons that were learned, that were added over time, so that similar mistakes and lessons, some of which were expensive, embarrassing and humiliatingly "gut wrenching", did not have to be re-learned. Although there is no replacement for direct, hands-on experience, the benefit of an expert's knowledge and direction makes for a great substitute. This thorough book will help guide any real estate practitioner through simple and complicated transactions alike, preventing and minimizing costly due diligence mistakes. Whether acting as a principal or as an advisor, this book will help you be more successful in investing for your own account, or in advising your clients. Likewise, whatever your experience level, you will be better with this book as a resource because of its thoughtful and precise instruction --- it is real-life, practical application at its best, not untested theory. I'm glad to have come across this book recently and recommend it highly to anyone involved in real estate, commercial or residential. The Author did a fantastic job breaking down all aspects of what to look for when buying commercial real estate which can be also highly useful for sellers as well in preparing their properties for sale.

The book gives you a very strong foundation in all areas of how commercial real estate works, leaving the reader with a very good overview of what to focus on prior to making the offer as well as during their 'free-look' period. I learned more reading this book than I learned in my college real estate courses.

Edwin Black was professor of communication arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the co-author, with Harry P. Kerr, of American Issues (1961). He was the co-editor, with Lloyd F. Bitzer, of The Prospect of Rhetoric (1971).

Definatly a Rhetorical exigence

While people outside of the field will find the arguments inside this book tedious, anyone who is interested in the field of Rhetoric MUST have this book on their shelf. Black calls into question the monopoly that the Neo-Aristotelians had in rhetorical criticism in the early twentieth century, and through his arguments exposes areas which required new methods to produce understanding. Black shows the possibilities of rhetorical criticism and opens up new possibilities for the field. While the arguments and examples are dated by today's standards, Blacks book demands a response from the field that as of now hasn't been fully satisfied.

A Study of Methodology

Professor Black tells us that rhetorical criticism has to do with a specialized form of critism and goes on in the first chapter to discuss the nature of the critic's role. In chapter two he talks about how rhetoric has to do with much more than spoken communication. He says that neo-Aristotelian criticism is by far the most dominant mode of rhetorical criticism presently used at the time of the book's publication.
The elements of neo-Aristotelianism include: 1) forensic, 2) deliberative, and 3) epideictic. The classifications of proof consist of: 1) logical, 2) pathetic, and 3) ethical. The assessment of the discourse includes: 1) invention, 2) arrangement, 3) delivery, 4) style, along with the evaluation of the discourse's effects on the audience.
This book offers a broad overview of rhetorical criticism. It lives up to its subtitle, i.e., it provides a study in method. It presents the historical context upon which Black adds his contribution.

Informative Look at Methodology

In the opening section of the book he approaches his subject philosophically. He talks about he role a critic plays in analyzing and providing a framework. From this context he goes on to describe the method.
A section is devoted to rhetorical cristism and how it includes must more than the spoken word. From here he places rhetoric in a more general context.
Critics from various historical epochs are cited. He contributes his own thoughts to the issue as it is passed down from one generation to the next. This book makes some insightful points and is worthy of attention for those interested in continuing the discussion.
